ATMIA has a strong commitment to be action-oriented by staying abreast of all activities affecting the electronic banking industry. We do this by using the skills and talents of our members effectively through various working groups around the world.

ATM Software Security Committee~ to encourage the use of security best practices for ATM software worldwide especially focused on Windows XP platforms for ATMs. Currently drafting best practices in parallel to PCI ATM in order to secure and harden the ATM node and system. Once the best practices are completed, they can be held up against PCI standards (both DSS and ATM) and a gap analysis will be conducted.

Electronic Payments Forum (EPF) ~ previously known as the Debit Council. We are currently accumulating thoughts on the channels/products of focus for this forum, and will develop the Terms of Reference at the first meeting in 2009. Portal under construction.
2009 Meeting Schedule: Denomination Fraud Committee ~ to address the origin of denomination fraud and what safeguards and resources are available to enhance the security. Currently drafting white paper on Building Denomination Fraud Awareness.
2009 Meeting Schedule: National Ram Raid Committee ~ to assimilate, educate, evaluate, and implement best practices to minimize the risks of Ram Raids.
2009 Meeting Schedule: Sponsoring Financial Institutions (SFI) Committee ~ provides a forum for the discussion of risk associated with ATM ISO Sponsorship and, with advice from Networks, Processors, ISOs and other industry experts, to determine by consensus the procedures Sponsoring Financial Institutions will recommend their institution implement. 2009 Meeting Schedule: Government Relations Committee (GRC) ~ provides a forum to deal with the rising tide of proposed State and Federal legislation to regulate the ATM industry and keeps members informed about legislation affecting the ATM industry.
2009 Meeting Schedule: Banknote Watch SA ~ to enhance cash security in South Africa through national awareness campaigns about the deterrent effect of banknote degradation technologies.
2009 Meeting Schedule: Mobile Phone Banking Security Committee~ to draft international security best practices for mobile phone banking and payment applications and stay abreast of regulatory developments, facilitate communication between the ATM industry and the mobile phone industry and help prevent mobile phone banking and payment fraud through best practices, education, fraud alerts and, where required, joint industry-law enforcement action. Environmentally Friendly ATMs ~ focus on managing the environmental impacts of ATMs. To see the Position Paper, Committee Work and more go to Portal. Calls for this committee will be set on an as needed basis.
Canada Government Relations Committee ~ provides a forum to deal with the rising tide of regulatory and legislative risk. Visual Impairment Study…Currency Redesign ~ ATMIA is again working with the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) providing crucial quantitative and qualitative information on potential design changes to paper currency and benchmark technologies for feasibility and cost of implementation.
